ASPIRE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM VOLUNTEERING WITH IKAIKA WATERMANS ACADEMY: This program provides opportunities for youth and adults to gain skills and confidence in positive leadership and teaching methods, teamwork, communication, and group organization while also gaining knowledge of ocean safety, skills & stewardship through theory training and hands-on leadership experience. Participants will receive coach leadership training within an enthusiastic and supportive team of fellow students before and during the week-long Watermans Academy’s for the youth of Hawaii.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS INFORMATION: There are multiple positions and programs available designed for youth and young adults from 10 years old and support the Ikaika programs to develop safety, skills and ocean stewardships for future generations of keiki. These volunteer opportunities build personal leadership, communication and relationship skills while building your resume, earning certifications, and hours of service to our community. Volunteering with IKAIKA can go towards the requirements of our Educational Scholarships to support dreams of further education. Our Leadership and volunteer programs focus on the ASPIRE PHILOSOPHY.
ATTITUDE, SPORTSMANSHIP, PERSEVERANCE, INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT & ENJOYMENT!
ASPIRE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: Level 1 (Trainee Leaders) Shadow advanced leaders and acquire skills in consistent responsibility, group organization, positive leadership and communication by assisting Team Leaders in executing lesson plans throughout the week in a wide variety of activities. Participants in this program will get hands-on experience in water safety & survival techniques, craft handling and maintenance, and the ASPIRE Philosophy. Ages 10+
ASPIRE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: Level 2 (Assistant Leaders)Embark on a journey of positive leadership development, language and communication, and watermans skills through first-hand experience. As an assistant coach you’ll acquire skills in consistent responsibility, group organization & positive leadership by mentoring 2-5 kids each week to help facilitate their relationship with the ocean and water sports. Expand your own knowledge base and passion by having support and guidance from your Team Leaders & fellow coaches.
ASPIRE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM: Level 3 (Team Leader) Ikaika’s Team Leaders are confident waterman who are eager to continue their personal growth in consistent responsibility, group organization & positive leadership and communication. As a Team Leader you will become an expert in a wide variety of watersport activities and be able to educate others in ocean safety, skills, and stewardship using the Ikaika Watermans Academy curriculum and ASPIRE Philosophy. Ages 15+
VOLUNTEER SAFETY OFFICERS: Ikaika is always looking for commmunity volunteers to ensure our keiki safety and becoming a part of our ohana to support the future Waterman in their quest to perpetuate the Hawaiian Watermans Culture.
EQUIPMENT & LOGISTICS VOLUNTEERS: Ikaika has a plithera of safety, elite kayaking, canoeing, boating and educational equipment and supplies. We are always in need of volunteers to ensure the equipment is organized, safe and maintained.
ADMINISTRATION & MARKETING VOLUNTEERS: If you have skills in administration, finance, marketing or fund raising and would like to help support the IKAIKA mission and vision of educating every child in Water Safety, Skills and Stewardship or providing positive pathways for our youth to represent Hawaii at college or on to the Olympic Games please contact us below.
